Hi.

I’m Silversmith.

You can also call me Margot.

I’m a vocalist and songwriter based in Minneapolis. I’ve been lucky to tour internationally with Emily Johnson/Catalyst, including to Australia with my very fresh, 10-WEEK OLD baby…which might sound like it could have been a mistake but it really wasn't. I’ve also performed &/or collaborated with various luminaries in Minneapolis and New York City, my previous home, in addition to performing Off-Broadway and in Meredith Monk’s Songs of Ascension at BAM. That was really a life highlight, but it was over 10 years ago so I hope it won't be the last.
I have an MFA in Contemporary Performance from Naropa University, a BA in Dance from Wesleyan University, and have studied at the Juilliard School and the European American Musical Alliance in Paris where I ate lots of moules frites and completely avoided the Louvre.
You can hear my voice on the podcast Feminist Files which traces the origins of Title IX. I'm also a parent, a tarot enthusiast, a student of grief, and a lover of beauty in all forms.

Music makes every kind of joy: it gets your body moving, it touches your heart & holds it when it hurts, it helps your mind see & understand things in new ways, and it lifts & reminds you of your spirit – and sometimes it does all of that at once.
I create songs as little worlds to experience these different kinds of joy, or to hold you tenderly in the darkness that holds hands with joy. I make music because it makes me and my listeners feel less alone.

WHAT A delight IT IS TO MAKE MUSIC IN THIS WORLD.

WHAT A THRILL IT IS TO SHARE IT WITH YOU.

THANK you FOR LISTENING.
